Rachel Bryan

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

Rachel has a strong academic background, with a First Class Honours degree in Translation (specialising in Italian, Russian and English). At the age of 11, she was in the top 5% of candidates in her independent school entrance exam, and was awarded a full government funded assisted place. In 2005, she was also the first person in the UK to complete the Italian A Level scheme in one year (whilst pregnant with her son).

After graduating, she was offered funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council for a part time European Masters in Translation with Language Technology over 3 years. This period of study has not only equipped Veritas with a first rate knowledge of current computerised translation software and technology, but is also constantly enriching the company with new approaches to translation, and updating its philosophy. Academic principles have been at the heart of Veritas since its foundation and Rachel is passionate about keeping this characteristic alive.

Rachel is an ambitious, forward-thinking entrepreneur with proven academic and professional successes. After leaving school, she travelled extensively around the Caribbean, South America and Europe. She worked with street children in Lima, Peru distributing food and sanitary items in various shanty towns, in conjunction with a local charity, and gained a valuable insight into Peruvian culture and history. Travelling instilled in Rachel a passion for languages and other cultures, which in turn has fuelled her passion for multilingual communication facilitated by the global translation industry.

Rachel co-founded Veritas Language Solutions immediately after graduating in 2009. Whilst Sharon concentrated on marketing the company and building up customer relations, Rachel was responsible for creating vendor management and financial systems, banking, quality assurance procedures, and project workflow systems. With Sharon, Rachel has continually formulated the philosophy and key objectives of Veritas. As the company grew, Rachel has ensured that these philosophies and infrastructures have been fully scalable to business growth and transferable to new personnel.

In sum, Rachel has a wealth of life experience at a young age. With proven academic abilities and subsequent natural flair for business, she brings to Veritas an overwhelming drive for both positive financial results, and language services of the highest quality.

Rachel has attained Levels 1, 2 and 3 in SDL Trados 2009 certification, and she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (IoL) and the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP).
