Veritas answer some FAQ’s about our award winning interpreting services.
Q) What type of interpreting service do I need?
The type of service that you need will depend on the form of interpreting event that you are organising.
- Simultaneous Interpreting: This mode is ideal for conferences, seminars and congresses. The speech is relayed to delegates in real time and the interpreter works from an acoustically isolated booth equipped with headphones and microphones. This method of interpreting is extremely draining and interpreters will work in pairs, taking turns to interpret and thus avoiding any errors caused by tiredness.
- Consecutive Interpreting: This mode is used in press conferences and interviews, performances and product presentations, small meetings, official lunches and dinners etc. The interpreter listens to the speech, which pauses from time to time, and relays the message after it has been spoken.
- Whispered Simultaneous Interpreting (a.k.a. Chuchotage): The interpreter, who is situated behind the target language listener/s, whispers the translated message. This mode is suitable for occasions where there may be just one or two speakers of the target language and the whispering of the interpreter will not disrupt proceedings.
- Telephone Interpreting: This mode is conducted via telephone in those cases when meeting in person is not possible, or if the need for interpreting services are irregular and/or immediate.
