British budget to stimulate UK business

Posted by:

This past Wednesday, the Chancellor of the Exchequer presented his budget to Parliament and the british public. One of the main aims of the budget was to stimulate businesses, particularly small to medium sized businesses, and to ease the bureaucratic restrictions on start-ups.

Some of the ways the Government plans to help business to flourish is through an increase in entrepreneur’s relief, the creation of 21 “Enterprise Zones” across the UK, and an attempt to reduce the red tape which many small businesses find restrictive.

A rise in APD has been postponedSome other highlights of the budget included a 1p reduction in fuel duty, along with a postponement of planned increases to the Air Passenger Duty (APD). These two measures in particular will seem positive to most people, but could prove especially useful to businesses. Any decrease in the price of travel can’t help but facilitate international trading, and will serve to reduce the financial burden of overseas business trips.
